Updated: Rail lines reopen after person hit by a train north of York

There’s major disruption on the railways this evening (Wednesday).

LNER reports that all lines are blocked between York and Darlington due to a person being hit by a train.

The incident is at Northallerton.

The train company said: “We are experiencing major disruption between York and Darlington due to a person being hit by a train.

“Services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed, and disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

If you are mid journey, LNER says the on-board train manager will keep you updated with information about the incident and the impact on your journey.

It adds: “If you are currently waiting at a station, please listen out for station announcements or speak to a member of station staff.

“If you are unable to complete your journey today and require hotel accommodation, please speak to a member of station staff.”
