A man in his 70s has died whilst cycling in Harrogate.
North Yorkshire Police were called to Skipton Road, at the junction with Dragon Road, at approximately 3:30pm yesterday (Monday). The road was closed in both directions and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
The man was found in a serious condition, and despite the best effort of members of the public and emergency crews, he sadly died at the scene.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
“At this stage, we don’t believe that there was any third-party involvement with the man or his bike prior to the incident.”
Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, but has not yet come forward, to get in touch.
