York’s newest bar opened this weekend.

As first revealed by YorkMix, Katie O’Brien’s moved into the former Pitcher & Piano off Coney Street.

Work to transform it into an Irish bar began soon after previous owners Marston’s sold it to Newcastle-based Innvest Group, the owners of the growing chain.

Both floors and the outdoor area have been renovated.

And judging by the number of people drinking there at the weekend, it’s a popular new addition to York’s food and drink scene.

The decor is, as you might expect, very green, with a tiled bar and a mixture of fixed and floating seating.

The area at the back of the bar is the stage for the many live performers who will play at the pub.

It is the second Irish bar to open in York in recent months, after the Dubliner succeeded the Maltings on Tanners Moat.
