North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service is advising residents in York to keep doors and windows closed following reports of smoke in the area.
A spokesperson said the service had received numerous about smoke in and around the city, which is believed to be drifting from the ongoing Langdale Moor fire.
Firefighters have been tackling large blaze, which broke out on Tuesday (12 August) and measured approximately 5 sq km, for several days.
The smoke has also spread towards Malton, where residents are being given the same advice.
As of 4 pm today, nine fire engines remain at the scene, and crews are expected to continue working there for several more days.
