York is bringing the beach to the heart of the city this summer.
Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square will be transformed into a seaside escape on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July.
Organised by Make It York, attractions will include a sandy play zone, seaside-themed selfie spots, a giant deckchair, face peep boards, face painting and classic fairground rides.
What’s more, explore York’s Shambles Market with the Seagull Trail – a fun-filled, self-guided adventure that brings seaside cheer to the city’s core.
Ideal for families, keep an eye out for cheeky seagull illustrations hidden in corners and high above. Pick up your trail checklist from the Visit York Visitor Information Centre at on Parliament Street.
Once you’ve found all ten seagulls, head to the information centre to share your feedback and be in with a chance to win a family platter for four from Millers Fish & Chips at Shambles Food Court.

Make It York will also be celebrating Yorkshire Day (1 August) with a curated artisan market on Parliament Street from 1 to 3 August.
The Yorkshire Day Market will sell handcrafted goods and food and drink from Yorkshire’s finest makers and producers.
