‘A proud milestone’: York restaurant delighted by award

A York restaurant has been awarded two AA Rosettes in recognition for its culinary excellence.

Bosun’s Restaurant, located at The Riverfront York in Bishopthorpe on the banks of the River Ouse, received the recognition by the AA’s team of expert inspectors – recognising its outstanding culinary standards, creativity, and consistency.

“This recognition belongs to the entire team — front and back of house — who bring their best every day.”

Kurtus Auty, executive chef at Bosun’s, added: “This award is a reflection of the whole team — from the kitchen to front of house and our many suppliers. It’s their passion, skill, and commitment that make Bosun’s what it is, and I’m proud to be part of it.

“For our customers, it means every dish, every welcome, and every detail is delivered with genuine care. It’s not just about great food — it’s about creating a warm, memorable experience every time you walk through our doors.

“This recognition tells us we’re getting that right, and we’re excited to keep raising the bar.”

The Riverfront York is a unique hospitality destination situated along the River Ouse. It is home to Bosun’s Restaurant, open Thursday to Sunday every week, which opened in December 2021 under the stewardship of Kerrie and Phil Cook.

In December 2023, they acquired full ownership of the site, marking a new chapter in its development.
