Iconic retro games are being brought to life in York next month – in this free and family-friendly interactive event.
York BID are transforming Parliament Street into The Actual Reality Arcade – with seven larger-than-life games including a huge-scale laser run, life-sized Donkey Kong, and whack-a-mole with human volunteers.
The free event will take place on Parliament Street in York on Saturday 5 July from 11am to 5pm.

Step into the arcade and play for real with:
- Tetris
- Laser Run
- Donkey Kong
- Invaders
- Whack
- Breakout
- Marble run
As well as these iconic retro games, visitors will get the chance to meet representatives from the local police and fire service. Families can check out the emergency vehicles, chat with officers, and discover how York’s first responders keep the city safe.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “We’re excited to bring The Actual Reality Arcade to life this July.
“This interactive and immersive event is a fantastic way to draw visitors into the city centre and create a memorable experience for everyone. Enjoy some nostalgic memories while experiencing the thrill of classic arcade games in a totally new way.”
