A man has died after his car and a skip lorry collided on the A19.
YorkMix reported the collision yesterday (Friday), which happend on the A19 at Riccall, at the northbound junction with York Road, at about 10.30am.
A white DAF skip lorry vehicle collided with a black Nissan Juke which was joining the A19 from York Road.
Crash location
The driver of the Juke, 81-year-old John Michael Duggan from Riccall, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance with serious injuries.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“They are being supported by specially trained officers.”
The driver of the lorry, a 42-year-old man from York, was arrested at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
The road was closed for several hours to allow an investigation to take place and for the vehicles involved to be safely recovered.
“We are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to contact us,” the force spokesperson said.
