The new Oliver Bonas store has opened in York.
The fashion and homeware retailer, which relocated its York store from Stonegate to King’s Square, opened at the end of last week. It was previously home to Boots, and had been vacant for more than a year.
Originally set to open on Saturday 2 August, the store opened a day early due to being ready to open its doors to the public sooner than expected.
“I think it was probably one of the smoothest store setups ever,” store manager, Natalie Jackson, told YorkMix.
“By the Thursday we were pretty much ready and we opened at half 10 on Friday. Then Saturday came and it was just hustle and bustle and busyness from doors opening to doors closing.”

A unique feature of the King’s Square store is a stained glass window which was found at the property – which is on public display inside the shop.
The reaction to the store relocation has been “all positive. We’ve had a lot of people that didn’t know we had a store in Stonegate.
“There was a lot of people that were really eager to get in and are just in awe of the colours, and how big it is, and all the products.”
Most of the team transferred from the previous store on Stonegate, but it has created three new team member jobs, as well as appointing a new assistant manager.

The store will officially launch on Saturday 9 August with a day of fun – including a DJ and special giveaways. The first 200 people in store will get a scratch card; with the chance of winning a gift card to spend in store or online.
“We’ve been having a blast these last few days,” said Natalie. “It’s been so nice to see everyone coming in with big smiles on their faces and helping them where we can. We look forward to seeing everyone soon!”
Oliver Bonas on King’s Square is open seven days a week, 9.30am to 5.30pm (11am to 5pm on Sundays). Find out more at their website here.
