Two incidents have caused problems for drivers today (Wednesday).
A lorry caught fire in a layby between Copmanthorpe and Bilbrough on the A64 this morning.
A full road closure was put in place while emergency services attended.
One lane has since reopened but traffic is still heavy in the area.
The second incident was a serious crash on Braegate Lane at Colton south of Copmanthorpe. Witnesses said it was a head-on collision.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the scene.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This road is expected to remain closed for some time to allow emergency services to respond.

“If you are planning to travel on the A64 or in nearby areas around Colton and Bilbrough, please consider using alternative routes.
“Delays are likely while emergency services manage both incidents.”
