The fire service responded to multiple calls after youths started a blaze in a York suburb.
A crew from York went to the fire in the open in Strensall at 8.02pm last night (Wednesday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire measured 3m by 3m, and the crew used two knapsack sprayers to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.
“Details of the incident were passed to police.”
At the same time firefighters attended reports of a fire in woodland in Acomb.
It was out when they arrived. They dampened down the area using knapsack sprayers to prevent any reignition.
This fire was also believed to have been started deliberately.
