Updated: North Yorkshire road reopens after crash

** The road has now reopened **

A main road in North Yorkshire is closed today (Monday).

The A169 is closed from the A64 roundabout to Marishes Low Road due to a crash.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re currently dealing with a collision between Malton and Pickering.

“The A169 Malton Road is currently closed between the A64 interchange and Marishes Low Road. Marishes Lane is also closed.

“Diversions are in place and the roads are likely to be closed for some time.

“Please avoid the area whist we respond. We’ll provide an update when we can.”

Buses are being diverted. The Coastliner service posted on X: “Due to a police incident, there is a road closure in place on the A169 and Coastliner 840 will be diverting

“Stops missed: Eden Camp, Low Marishes & High Marishes.

“This is in place until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

Eden Camp museum is also closed by the incident. Eden Services is serving those held up by the road closure.

The Whole Hogg Farm Shop and Tea Room, found on the A169 near Low Marishes, posted on Facebook: “Due to unforseen issues the road is closed from the A64 roundabout to Thornton le Dale due to a police incident.

“Unfortunately we are going to have to close today but will be back open tomorrow.”
