Two teenagers and one man arrested after police stop car in York

Three people are in custody after police stopped a car believed to be used in county lines drug dealing.

The car was sighted on the A64 in York yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), before being stopped by police in Acomb.

All three occupants, a man aged 31, and two boys aged 17, were detained and a “significant quantity” of class A drugs was located.

They were arrested on suspicion of drug offences and taken into custody. An 18-year-old woman has also been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Three remain in police cells for questioning and one has been released on bail.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This investigation remains in the early stages, but our work continues around the clock to pursue and bring to justice those who deal, drugs, commit acts of violence, and exploit vulnerable people in North Yorkshire.

“As part of this we launched a new dedicated force-wide serious organised crime disruption team, Op Sentry, in autumn last year, who are focused on the disruption of identified Organised Crime Groups including county lines, drug supply, human trafficking, fraud, and organised Serious Acquisitive Crime offences, and led on these arrests.

“Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us execute warrants, make arrests, and dismantle criminal activity that inflicts serious harm on our communities.”

They urged anyone with information to report it.
