Half of York could be in for a stormy Saturday, according to the Met Office.
It’s issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms between midnight and 6pm on Saturday (14 June).
The warning map bisects York, with the west half of the city included in the weather warning, and the east in the clear.
According to the map, Sherburn in Elmet, Tadcaster, Thirsk and Easingwold are in the storm danger zone.
But Selby, Pickering and Scarborough are safe on the other side.
Obviously these areas are not definitive, rather the meteorologists’ best educated guess. And the forecast is for thundery showers across the whole of the city on Saturday.
Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: “We’re going to see increasingly humid conditions with very warm days and some quite muggy nights as well and the general gist is that western parts of the UK are likely to see the majority of the rain and the thundery showers.
“But, as we go into Friday, we could see some of that also moving across the east and south east as well for some thunder there for a time.”
